Softball Recap: East Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

With a playoff win on the line, East rose to the challenge on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Unionville Longhorns. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by six runs or more this season.

Ferri Ava made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Cross Ava and Caelyn Rodriguez did most of the damage at the plate: Cross went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Rodriguez went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Emma Antczak, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

East was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Unionville only posted a batting average of .238.

East is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Unionville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-10 record this season.

As of now, neither East nor Unionville have any future games scheduled.
