Softball Recap: Miller Extends Home Winning Streak to Nine

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Chaffey, Miller was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Arroyo Valley Hawks with a sharp 16-10 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Rebels needed considering they were shutout in their previous matchup.

MERAY SANCHEZ made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. SANCHEZ was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on AMBER ALCANTAR, who went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three doubles. MIA TORRES was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Miller's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.1 runs over those games. As for Arroyo Valley, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Looking ahead, Miller is taking a road trip to take on Bloomington at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Arroyo Valley, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Indian Springs at 3:15 p.m.
