Soccer Game Preview: Clovis West vs. Sunnyside

The Clovis West Golden Eagles will take on the Sunnyside Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Clovis West sitting on three straight victories and Sunnyside on four.

Last Friday, Clovis West beat Roosevelt 4-2.

Meanwhile, Sunnyside hadn't done well against Central recently (they were 0-7 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Sunnyside's defense stepped up to hand Central a 1-0 shutout. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 119th, while the Grizzlies are ranked 279th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Sunnyside's one-goal win came courtesy of Jaime Moran, who's now up to three this season.

Sunnyside has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those seven contests. As for Clovis West, their win bumped their record up to 5-3-1.
