Recap: Thornton Trojans vs. Aurora Central Trojans

The Thornton Trojans pushed their score all the way to 68 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 79-68 to Aurora Central. Thornton has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Thornton lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Adrian Armendariz, who scored 16 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. Armendariz continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Sandovol, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Aurora Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Charles Laurendine II, who dropped a triple-double on 19 points, 13 rebounds, and ten assists. Laurendine II is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 17 or more in the last seven games he's played. Camron Crisp was another key contributor, scoring 21 points along with two steals.

Thornton has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season. As for Aurora Central, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Thornton will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Highland at 7:00 p.m. on February 9th. Hopefully Thornton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Tuesday. As for Aurora Central, they will head out on the road to take on Standley Lake at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
