Ayala had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.6 runs) and they went ahead and made it nine on Friday. Everything went their way against the Claremont Wolfpack as they made off with an 11-1 victory. Considering the Bulldogs have won 12 games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Eric Hernandez, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Jaden Valenzuela was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Ayala was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Claremont only posted a batting average of .130.

Ayala's win bumped their record up to 22-2. As for Claremont, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-9 record this season.

Ayala and Claremont should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Bulldogs (ranked ninth) will meet Mira Costa (ranked 122nd) at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Ayala 1.8, the Mustangs 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Claremont will square off against University at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank advantage (251 vs. 653).
