Softball Recap: Pekin Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Pekin, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Canton Little Giants by a score of 9-4 on Thursday. This was a revenge game for the Dragons: when they faced off against the Little Giants back in April, they had to take a 7-5 defeat.

Zoe Lindahl spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on 11 hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lily Towery, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Bella Benassi was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

The win got Pekin back to even at 11-11. As for Canton, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 18-10.

Coming up, Pekin will take on Limestone at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Canton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
