Basketball Game Preview: Centralia Orphans vs. Mt. Vernon Rams

The Centralia Orphans will face off against the Mt. Vernon Rams at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Centralia is coming into the contest hot, having won their last 13 games.

Centralia's tournament run continued when they took on Mt. Vernon on Saturday. Centralia came out on top against Mt. Vernon by a score of 44-32. Given the Orphans' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while the Rams are ranked 61st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Centralia will have to contain Brogan Holloway as he made an impact in Mt. Vernon's last game. He posted 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cale Maurer, who had five points.

Centralia's victory was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-3. As for Mt. Vernon, they moved to 13-6 with that defeat, which also ended their six-game winning streak.
