Preview: Lone Star Rangers vs. Heritage Coyotes

Lone Star is 9-0 against Heritage since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Lone Star Rangers will head out on the road to face off against the Heritage Coyotes at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Lone Star's favor is that they have now posted big point totals every time they've taken the field this season.

Lone Star can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent match on Thursday. They beat Frisco by the very same score they won with last week: 41-10. Given Lone Star's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 52nd, while Frisco is ranked 239th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lone Star's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Collin Blackstock, who rushed for 20 yards and two touchdowns, and Davian Groce, who gained 139 total yards and two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Heritage fell victim to Reedy's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a serious blow against the Lions, falling 41-0. Heritage was already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.

Lone Star's victory was their eighth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 8-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-9 Liberty and 2-7 Lebanon Trail (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 42.9% over those games). As for Heritage, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-3.

Everything came up roses for Lone Star against Heritage in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 as the team secured a 37-7 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lone Star since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
