Basketball Recap: St. Francis Falls Despite Big Games from Ashley Powell and Courtny Bridgeforth

St. Francis was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 63-51 to the Aurora Central Catholic Chargers. On the bright side, the 51- point performance marked the Spartans' highest-scoring matchup to date.

Courtny Bridgeforth and Ashley Powell certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Bridgeforth posted 17 points and six assists, while Powell shot 50% from the field to rack up 18 points and five boards. With that strong performance, Bridgeforth is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. Tenley Glock also deserves some recognition as she posted her first blocks of the season.

St. Francis' defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Aurora Central Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.
