Baseball Game Preview: Calumet New Tech Warriors vs. Lake Station Edison Fighting Eagles

For the second straight game, Calumet New Tech will face off against Lake Station Edison. The Warriors will head out on the road to take on the Fighting Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Calumet New Tech is looking for their season's first win.

Calumet New Tech couldn't beat Lake Station Edison on Monday even though they stacked four runs on them in the fourth inning. The Warriors came up short against the Fighting Eagles, falling 23-4. On the bright side, the four- run performance marked the Warriors' highest-scoring game to date.

For Lake Station Edison's part, Jordan Hastings was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave Hastings a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those RBI were his first of the season.

In other batting news, Aiden Rowan was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. Gael Gutierrez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI.

Lake Station Edison always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .587. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Calumet New Tech only posted an OBP of .444.

Calumet New Tech's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Lake Station Edison, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-8.
