Basketball Recap: Thrive Charter Takes a Loss

On Sunday, Thrive Charter opened the new year with a less-than-successful 47-39 loss to the St. Rose Purple Roses. While losing is never fun, Thrive Charter can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while St. Rose is ranked 14th).

Defeat or not, Thrive Charter got some senior leadership from Tori Evans and Oui-Mia Wilkins. Evans dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards, while Wilkins posted 12 points and four steals. Evans is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Sondjane Doudin, who had two points and three steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Thrive Charter and nudges their season record down to 4-3. As for St. Rose, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-2.

Thrive Charter won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Medford Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for St. Rose, they will welcome Neptune at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Neptune is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.3 points per game this season.
