Softball Recap: Yorba Linda Has No Trouble Against Segerstrom

Yorba Linda was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Segerstrom on Saturday. The Yorba Linda Mustangs put the hurt on the Segerstrom Jaguars with a sharp 10-3 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Mustangs needed considering they were shutout in their previous contest.

Sydney Chirco spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits.

At the plate, Natalia Wojtuszewski was incredible, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple marked the first that she hit this season. Another player making a difference was Claire Gress, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple.

Yorba Linda kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.

The win got Yorba Linda back to even at 2-2. As for Segerstrom, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Coincidentally, Yorba Linda and Segerstrom will both be playing Canyon the next time they take the field. Segerstrom will head out to face Canyon at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Yorba Linda will host them at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
