Football Recap: Wynot Skates Past Winside with Ease

Wynot entered their tilt with Winside on Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They really took it to the Wildcats for the full four quarters, racking up a 73-6 win. The Blue Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by 34 points or more this season.

Leading Wynot to victory were Braxton Oligmueler and Lane Heimes. Oligmueler rushed for 40 yards and a pair of TDs, while Heimes rushed for 83 yards and three touchdowns on only six carries. Heimes has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kotner Koch, who gained 74 total yards and two touchdowns.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Wynot proved: they limited Winside to a paltry -0.9 yards per carry. The team can thank Heimes for the heroic effort on defense: he. Wynot didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 7.4.

Wynot's defense didn't let the opposing QB, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for six sacks. Emersyn Guenther was especially locked on to Winside's QB and sacked him twice.

Wynot's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Winside, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-3.

Coming up, Wynot will face off against Bancroft-Rosalie at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Blue Devils will be up against the Panthers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 40.29 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Winside, they will be playing at home against Randolph at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
