League recap: Hobart's Murray delivers best pitching performance from past week

Northwest Crossroads league recap: 5/30/13

Northwest Crossroads' top pitcher this week was Hobart's Brandon Murray. He won one game and struck out 12 batters.

Top honors in the league this week go to Griffith, which finished with five wins overall, good for best in the league. The Panthers beat Roosevelt 7-0, Clark 10-0 and Gavit 9-1.

The Brickies' pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing nine hits and six walks to lead the league in both categories.

Griffith led the league with 38 runs scored this week, but Hobart still holds the season lead with 233 runs.

There were ten hitters that batted over .400 in the league this week. Leading the pack was Drey Devereaux, who hit .600 by going 3-for-5.



The most RBI in the league this week belonged to the Panthers' Jesse Smith, who drove in eight. He now stands at 27 RBIs on the season, which puts him fourth in the league.

Murray led the Brickies to a win on May 22, as he notched 12 strikeouts to beat Chesterton, 8-2. Over his seven innings pitched he allowed two runs on five hits.
