Softball Game Preview: Montello Hilltoppers vs. Markesan Hornets

Montello is on a 13-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and Markesan a five-game streak of away losses also dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Thursday. The Montello Hilltoppers will look to defend their home field against the Markesan Hornets at 5:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Montello's offense. They lost 20-0 to Cambria-Friesland on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 15 runs the game before, Markesan was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They came up short against Laconia, falling 14-1.

Lauren Moldenhaur made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run. She also brought in an RBI, marking her first of the season.

Markesan's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Montello, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.

Montello might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from Markesan in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Hilltoppers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
