Baseball Game Preview: Dawson Eagles vs. Manvel Mavericks

For the second straight game, Dawson will face off against Manvel. The Eagles will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Mavericks at 6:00 p.m. Dawson's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Manvel's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Tuesday, Dawson made easy work of Manvel and carried off a 14-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.

Garritt Romero made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed six innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Maddox Botas was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Adam Timmons, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Dawson has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Manvel, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-10.
