Baseball Recap: Kiel's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Kiel came tearing into Thursday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Two Rivers Purple Raiders a 4-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-2 on Thursday.

Not much got past Aaron Stephany, who gave up just four hits and racked up ten Ks to keep Two Rivers off the board. Stephany has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kiel saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ben Gross, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Those two hits gave Gross a new career-high.

Kiel hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Two Rivers struck out ten times.

Kiel's win bumped their record up to 15-3. As for Two Rivers, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-13.

Kiel has already played their next game, a 3-2 defeat against Kewaskum on the 23rd. As for Two Rivers, they will face off against Xavier at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
