Softball Recap: Pioneer Valley's Winning Streak Snapped at Six Games

Pioneer Valley dropped their record down to 20-12 on Friday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins. They lost 12-6 to the Liberty Hawks. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Panthers, who until this contest were averaging 3.72 runs allowed.

Mila Dolores made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Kianna Real was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

As for Liberty, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-8 record this season. The result was nothing new for Liberty, who have now won 13 games by six runs or more so far this season.

On Liberty's side, Macie Webster spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits. Webster has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ari Aguayo, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Trinity Cervantes, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
