Baseball Game Preview: St. Clair Saints vs. Grosse Pointe North Norsemen

For the second straight game, St. Clair will face off against Grosse Pointe North. The Saints will be playing at home against the Norsemen at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

St. Clair blew Grosse Pointe North out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Wednesday Grosse Pointe North got their revenge. The Saints fell just short of the Norsemen by a score of 4-2.

For Grosse Pointe North's part, Brandon Keyes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up six Ks. Keyes has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Grosse Pointe North's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Jarackas, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

The win snapped Grosse Pointe North's losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 4-19-1 record. As for St. Clair, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.
