East Wake fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against C.B. Aycock on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the C.B. Aycock Golden Falcons by a score of 5-4. The Warriors' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Madison Smith was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Alissa Flood, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs.

East Wake's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 4-3. As for C.B. Aycock, they pushed their record up to 4-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Coming up, East Wake will host West Johnston at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. East Wake's pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so West Johnston's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for C.B. Aycock, they will venture away from home to challenge Southern Nash at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Southern Nash will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something C.B. Aycock surely won't give up without a fight.
