Basketball Recap: Bethany Christian Snaps Six-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Bethany Christian lost against Lakeland back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Bethany Christian Bruins fell 66-54 to the Lakeland Lakers. While losing is never fun, the Bruins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 198th, while the Lakers are ranked 27th).

When it comes to explaining why Bethany Christian lost, don't look at Jacoby Reinhardt. Despite the final result, he posted 18 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Bontrager, who earned eight points.

Lakeland was led to victory by Keyan Arroyo and Kyle Hartsough. Arroyo had 22 points and five assists, while Hartsough put up 20 points. The dominant performance gave Hartsough a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Cole Riehl, who posted two points in addition to seven assists, seven boards, and five steals.

Bethany Christian's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-3. As for Lakeland, their record now sits at 4-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bethany Christian will host Triton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bethany Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.8 points per game this season. As for Lakeland, they will welcome Westview at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Lakeland's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matchups.
