Bear Creek took a three-set defeat the last time they faced off against Weston Ranch, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bruins narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Cougars 3-2. The win was familiar territory for the Bruins, who have now won four matchups in a row.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Bear Creek got the one that really mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-27, 25-20, 22-25, 16-14.

Alexa Tran paced Bear Creek's offense, picking up 14 kills. Tran got some help from Olivia Hafoka and her 18 assists. Savannah Alvarado controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Bear Creek's victory bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Weston Ranch, they dropped their record down to 8-4 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

Looking ahead, Bear Creek will host Tokay at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Weston Ranch, they will take on St. Francis in a tournament on Saturday.
