Basketball Preview: Grafton Clippers vs. York Falcons
Grafton is 10-0 against the Falcons since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Grafton Clippers will head out on the road to challenge the York Falcons at 6:00 p.m. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Grafton has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 50-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Warhill on Thursday.
Despite the loss, Grafton saw an underclassman step up: Taylor Ragland dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. Ragland is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least ten every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Alonni Wells, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and six assists.
Meanwhile, York's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their 14th straight loss. They lost to Tabb on the road by a decisive 38-19 margin.
Grafton's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-3. As for York, they dropped their record down to 1-15 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Everything came up roses for Grafton against the Falcons in their previous matchup back in January as the team secured a 67-7 victory. With Grafton ahead 42-6 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
