Basketball Recap: Fullerton Piles Up the Points Against Ansley/Litchfield

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fullerton). They blew past the Ansley/Litchfield Spartans, posting a 65-37 victory. For the Warriors, this counts as revenge for the 49-44 win the Spartans walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.

Fullerton found their leader in sophomore Kane Wetovick, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 15 rebounds. The matchup was Wetovick's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Hunter Gochenour, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine boards.

Fullerton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Despite the loss, Ansley/Litchfield still got an impressive performance from Luke Bailey, who went 9 of 19 on his way to 20 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. That was a full 54.1% of Ansley/Litchfield's points, marking the tenth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Daevon Magner also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Fullerton pushed their record up to 5-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.5 points per game. As for Ansley/Litchfield, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.

Fullerton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 61-41 win against Nebraska Christian on the 9th. Ansley/Litchfield has also already played their next matchup, a 42-39 defeat against Amherst on the 9th.
