Softball Game Preview: Silver Bluff Bulldogs vs. Fox Creek Predators

Silver Bluff is 1-9 against Fox Creek since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Bulldogs will venture away from home to square off against the Predators at 6:00 p.m. Silver Bluff will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

On Monday, Silver Bluff earned a 4-1 victory over Horse Creek Academy.

Kendall Newton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Emma Widener was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Haeley Bowman, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Fox Creek has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 4.04 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Tuesday. They lost 14-0 to Pelion. The Predators' loss signaled the end of their nine-game winning streak.

Fox Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 17-6. As for Silver Bluff, their win bumped their record up to 10-7.

Silver Bluff suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to Fox Creek in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
