Baseball Recap: Florence Wins Going Away Against Brady

Florence hadn't done well against Brady recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Buffaloes blew past the Bulldogs 16-1. Considering the Buffaloes' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Dane Gola made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Terry Parker was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Florence is 3-0-1 when Parker posts two or more runs, but 7-13 otherwise. Cody Carlson was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Florence moved to 10-13-1 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Brady, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-18-2 record this season.

Florence will have a chance to go back-to-back against Brady: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
