Adams City has been on the road for three straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Ponderosa Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 13 to 5 on the offensive boards, a fact Adams City proved on Saturday. They strolled past The Academy with points to spare, taking the game 59-40.
Adams City got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Xavier Copher out in front who scored 15 points along with 5 steals. Another player making a difference was Zak Ahmed, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, Ponderosa waltzed into Saturday's contest with four straight wins but they left with five. Everything went their way against Grand Junction as Ponderosa made off with a 67-46 win. Ponderosa might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won three contests by 21 points or more this season.
Adams City now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Ponderosa, they have yet to lose a matchup at home this season, leaving them with a 5-1 record.
Adams City was dealt a bruising 100-62 defeat at the hands of Ponderosa in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. Thankfully for Adams City, Derek Slattery (who went 7 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 34 points and 3 assists) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
