Football Recap: Turner County Titans vs. Mitchell County Eagles

Turner County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 40-32 to the Mitchell County Eagles. The Titans lost against the Eagles in their previous head to head back in November of 2019, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 36-7 score last time.

When it comes to explaining why Turner County lost, don't look at Curtis Grant. Despite the final result, he rushed for 204 yards while picking up 9.3 yards per carry, and also picked up 40 receiving yards. The dominant performance gave him a new career- in total yards. Octavius Terry also played a phenomenal game despite the final result: he picked up 89 receiving yards.

Nicolas Williams had an outrageously good game for Mitchell County as he rushed for 149 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries. Williams is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 116 every time he's taken the field this season.

Turner County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Mitchell County, the win (which was their fifth in a row dating back to last season) raised their record to 3-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Turner County will take on Wilcox County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Turner County focused on turnovers this week as team gave up four on Thursday. As for Mitchell County, they are taking a road trip to take on Clinch County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Clinch County will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Mitchell County surely won't give up without a fight.
