Softball Game Preview: Orting Cardinals vs. Kingston Buccaneers

The Orting Cardinals will head out on the road to take on the Kingston Buccaneers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Orting gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They were the clear victors by a 24-14 margin over Steilacoom. The Cardinals haven't had any issues with the Sentinels recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

The team relied heavily on Norah Fenton, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, 11 RBI, and four runs. Those 11 RBI gave her a new career-high. Claire Carlson was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one triple.

Orting was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .516. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .421 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Kingston made easy work of Bremerton on Wednesday and carried off an 18-2 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Buccaneers.

Orting's record is now 6-7. As for Kingston, their record now sits at 8-5.

Orting came out on top in a nail-biter against Kingston when the teams last played back in May of 2022, sneaking past 5-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cardinals since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
