Baseball Game Preview: Dr. Krop Lightning vs. Sports Leadership & Management

The Dr. Krop Lightning will take on Sports Leadership & Management at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Dr. Krop will be strutting in after a win while Sports Leadership & Management will be coming in after a defeat.

Dr. Krop will bounce into Wednesday's contest after beating Southwest, who they had gone 0-6 against in their six prior meetings. The Lightning came out on top in a nail-biter against the Eagles on Monday, sneaking past 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lightning have posted since April 16, 2024.

Fernando Guerrero spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on seven hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Dr. Krop is 4-2 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 3-9 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ryan Pena, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two).

Meanwhile, Sports Leadership & Management was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 11-10 heartbreaker at the hands of Mater Bay Academy. That's two games in a row now that Sports Leadership & Management has lost by just one run.

Sports Leadership & Management's defeat dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Dr. Krop, their win bumped their record up to 7-11.

Dr. Krop came out on top in a nail-biter against Sports Leadership & Management in their previous matchup back in March of 2023, sneaking past 8-6.
