Softball Recap: Cypress Christian Drops Highest Score of Season Against Frassati Catholic

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cypress Christian). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Frassati Catholic Falcons a 20-0 shutout on Friday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

KK Smith made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs while going 3-for-3. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in February.

In other batting news, Audrey Petrowski was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Megan Smith was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Cypress Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.1 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 12.2.

Cypress Christian's record now sits at 5-7. As for Frassati Catholic, they dropped their record down to 1-7 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.
