Basketball Recap: Bisbee Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Bisbee had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 46 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They came within six points of losing the streak, but they secured a 44-38 W against the Morenci Wildcats. This was payback for the Pumas, who suffered a 56-44 loss the last time these two teams met.

Bisbee's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nicole Ceja, who posted 15 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Ceja is becoming a predictor of Bisbee's success: when she posts at least five steals the team is undefeated (and 8-10 when she doesn't). Another player making a difference was Alyssa Lopez, who scored 15 points.

Morenci lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Tiara Jones, who had 14 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. Khloee Kouts also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assists of the season.

Bisbee's record now sits at 14-10. As for Morenci, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-16.
