Soccer Game Preview: Winthrop vs. Saugus

The Winthrop Vikings will take on the Saugus Sachems at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Winthrop will be strutting in after a win while Saugus will be coming in after a defeat.

Winthrop's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Peabody Veterans Memorial 3-0.

Meanwhile, Saugus managed to keep up with Beverly until halftime on Thursday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Sachems lost 3-0 to the Panthers. While losing is never fun, Saugus can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts soccer rankings (they are ranked 229th, while Beverly are ranked first).

Winthrop now has a winning record of 4-3-2. As for Saugus, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8-1.
