Recap: Deep Run Wildcats vs. Thomas Dale Knights
If the Deep Run Wildcats were riding high off their 79-13 takedown of the Thomas Jefferson Vikings last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Deep Run was beaten by Thomas Dale 84-36 on Tuesday. Deep Run was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-20.
Thomas Dale found their leader in underclassman Syvannah Dawson, who shot 5-for-8 from beyond the arc and almost dropped a triple-double on 31 points, nine assists, and nine steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Dawson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nylah Wilson, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Deep Run's loss dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Thomas Dale, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 13-0.
Deep Run will head out on the road to square off against Glen Allen at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Virginia (Glen Allen is ranked 55th, while Deep Run is ranked 59th). As for Thomas Dale, they will be playing at home against John Marshall at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. John Marshall is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
