Softball Recap: Lewis Cass Falls Short of Oak Hill in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Lewis Cass can now relate to. They fell just short of the Oak Hill Golden Eagles by a score of 2-1 on Tuesday. The Kings haven't had much luck with the Golden Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Ruth (Amma) Fitzhugh spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on six hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lewis Cass saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Hubner, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Lewis Cass' defeat dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Oak Hill, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season.

Lewis Cass does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Oak Hill, they will challenge Rochester at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Zebras will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Golden Eagles surely won't give up without a fight.
