Baseball Game Preview: Midland Park Panthers vs. Hackensack Comets

The Midland Park Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Hackensack Comets at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hackensack took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Midland Park, who comes in off a win.

On Wednesday, Midland Park was able to grind out a solid win over Wood-Ridge, taking the game 9-6. That's two games straight that the Panthers have won by exactly three runs.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Hackensack's offense. They fell just short of Northern Highlands by a score of 2-0 on Tuesday. The Comets' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Midland Park has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Hackensack, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-13-1.

Midland Park came out on top in a nail-biter against Hackensack in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, sneaking past 2-1. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Comets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
