Basketball Recap: Clay Comes Up Short

Clay lost against St. Johns Country Day back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Clay Blue Devils were dealt a 60-17 loss at the hands of the St. Johns Country Day Spartans. The Blue Devils were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-11.

Kendall Proffitt was her usual excellent self, going 12 of 23 on her way to 34 points along with seven boards and five steals for St. Johns Country Day. Proffitt's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Sophia Mejias was another key player, going 5 for 10 en route to 15 points and five assists.

Clay has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season. As for St. Johns Country Day, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.

Clay has already played their next contest (against Englewood), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. St. Johns Country Day has already played their next game, a 51-42 defeat against Fleming Island on the 16th.
