After a string of four wins, Calexico's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of the Point Loma Pointers by a score of 2-1. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Bulldogs came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 124th, while the Pointers are ranked 322nd).

Calexico's loss dropped their record down to 8-3-3. As for Point Loma, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-2-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Calexico will square off against La Costa Canyon at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
