Baseball Game Preview: Drummond Bulldogs vs. Glencoe Panthers

Drummond and Glencoe are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2015, but likely not for long. Drummond will head out to challenge Glencoe at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Drummond's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last four contests.

Drummond barely beat Woodland the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Drummond blew past Woodland 11-0 on Friday. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by six runs or more this season.

Boston Burford and Anthony Fugate did most of the damage at the plate: Burford scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2, while Fugate scored a run while going 1-for-1. The dominant performance also gave Fugate a new career-high in RBI (three). Grant Tyner was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

Drummond hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Glencoe's offense. They lost 8-0 to Dover on March 13th. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Drummond's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Glencoe, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Drummond skirted past Glencoe 6-5 in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Drummond since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
