Recap: Hammond Golden Bears vs. River Hill Hawks
The Hammond Golden Bears's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They took a 70-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of River Hill. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game two weeks ago (60), Hammond still had to take the loss.
River Hill got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Braden Sauritch out in front who scored 20 points along with four steals. Sauritch is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Aiden Igwebe was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with three steals.
Hammond has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for River Hill, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-1.
Hammond will face off against Franklin at TBD on Monday. As for River Hill, they will head out on the road to square off against Reservoir at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Reservoir has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 15.
