Baseball Recap: Grace Christian Drops Season-High Score on Ridgeview Christian

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Grace Christian). They were the clear victors by a 19-4 margin over the Ridgeview Christian Crusaders on Monday. With that victory, the Warriors brought their scoring average up to 7.8 runs per game.

Ethan Wright and Landon Wright were a major factor while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Wright tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Landon struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off only two hits. At the plate, Wright went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Landon scored four runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. That's the most RBI Ethan has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Davis Reid and Abe Hochstetler did most of the damage at the plate: Reid scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances, while Hochstetler scored three runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave Hochstetler a new career-high in RBI (three). Elijah McCaskill was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Grace Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Grace Christian's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Ridgeview Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Grace Christian will challenge Timberlake Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ridgeview Christian, they will head out to square off against Regents at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.7 runs per game on average), something the Crusaders will no doubt try to take advantage of.
