Recap: Mt. Zion Bulldogs vs. Paul W. Bryant Stampede
If the Mt. Zion Bulldogs were feeling good off their 74-52 takedown of the Forest Park Panthers last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Mt. Zion had to suffer through a rough 88-44 loss at the hands of Paul W. Bryant. Mt. Zion was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 54-17.
Despite the loss, Mt. Zion still got an impressive performance from Jaki Bell, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja'Shy Mackey, who scored eight points.
Mt. Zion's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Paul W. Bryant, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.
Mt. Zion is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Hampton at 7:30 p.m. on January 2nd. Hampton is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home. Paul W. Bryant won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Shades Valley at 5:30 p.m. on December 29, 2023. Shades Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while Paul W. Bryant is ranked ninth).
