Basketball Recap: Mikira Wilkes Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Jefferson

Canutillo won the last time they faced Jefferson and things went their way on Friday too. The Canutillo Eagles strolled past the Jefferson Silver Foxes with points to spare, taking the game 35-16. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Canutillo to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mikira Wilkes, who went 5 of 10 en route to 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalee Naudin, who posted three points in addition to seven rebounds and six steals.

Canutillo smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Canutillo has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 14-14 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.7 points per game. As for Jefferson, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-18.

Canutillo will challenge El Paso at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Jefferson, they will take on Andress at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
