Preview: Chapin Eagles vs. Cane Bay Cobras

The Chapin Eagles are on the road again on Wednesday and plays the Cane Bay Cobras at 7:00 p.m. on February 14th. Chapin will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 126th, while Cane Bay is ranked 46th).

Last Thursday, Chapin lost to River Bluff on the road by a decisive 58-43 margin. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Chapin in their matchups with River Bluff: they've now lost eight in a row.

Meanwhile, Cane Bay had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, they made off with a 56-55 victory over Goose Creek. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Cane Bay found their leader in underclassman Jarvis Roper JR., who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Isaac Smalls was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with four steals.

Chapin has traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season. As for Cane Bay, they pushed their record up to 18-8 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home.
