Basketball Recap: Olentangy Berlin Comes Up Short

Olentangy Berlin lost against Olentangy back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Olentangy Berlin Bears took a hard 53-35 fall against the Olentangy Braves. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 329th, while the Braves are ranked 148th).

Olentangy was led to victory by Ulysses Ponder and Quentin Page. Ponder posted 12 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals, while Page almost dropped a double-double with nine points and ten boards. The dominant performance gave Page a new career-high in rebounds. Another player making a difference was Cooper Denlinger, who had six points.

Olentangy Berlin has traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 13 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season. Olentangy's record now sits at 13-9.

Olentangy Berlin and Olentangy are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Olentangy Berlin will face off against Pickerington Central at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Olentangy, they will venture away from home to challenge Newark at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Olentangy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.3 points per game this season.
