Baseball Game Preview: Schuylkill Valley Panthers vs. Pottsville Crimson Tide

The Schuylkill Valley Panthers will head out on the road to square off against the Pottsville Crimson Tide at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Schuylkill Valley hadn't beaten Berks Catholic on the road since April 12, 2022 but that history sure didn't bother them on Wednesday. The Panthers came out on top against the Saints by a score of 5-1.

Schuylkill Valley's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Austin Gilmer, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave Gilmer a new career-high. Dimitrios Aletras also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Pottsville can bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They walked away with a 7-3 victory over North Schuylkill. The Crimson Tide's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Harrison Ciavarella was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Brody Eroh was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Pottsville's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-7. As for Schuylkill Valley, their record is now 4-7.
