Recap: Cedar Ridge Raiders vs. Vandegrift Vipers
The Cedar Ridge Raiders fell victim to the Vandegrift Vipers''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were dealt a 58-0 defeat at the hands of the Vipers. Cedar Ridge has struggled against Vandegrift recently, as their match on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Vandegrift's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Deuce Adams, who threw for 111 yards and three touchdowns while completing 81.3% of his passes. Another big playmaker for Vandegrift was Adam Scott, who returned a punt for a touchdown.
Cedar Ridge's loss was their sixth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-2 Round Rock and 6-2 Vista Ridge (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 69.1% over those games). As for Vandegrift, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.
Cedar Ridge will look to defend their home field on Friday against Round Rock at 7:00 p.m. Round Rock presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Cedar Ridge in Texas (Round Rock is ranked 129th, while Cedar Ridge is ranked 396th). As for Vandegrift, they will head out on the road to face off against Vista Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Vista Ridge is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
