Baseball Recap: Valley Lutheran Gets the Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Valley Lutheran ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Michigan Lutheran Seminary Cardinals 5-4. The Chargers haven't had any issues with the Cardinals recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Trey Flood-Captain made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ben Diener, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Tyler Belt-Captain also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.

Valley Lutheran's record now sits at 4-1. As for Michigan Lutheran Seminary, they moved to 3-2 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
