Volleyball Recap: St. Albans Red Dragons vs. Nitro Wildcats
St. Albans was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Nitro Wildcats. The Red Dragons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.
Bethany Farry paced St. Albans' offense, picking up five kills. Farry got some help from Ellah Smith and her nine assists. Finally, Sophia Eary kept St. Albans' defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.
Nitro found their leader in sophomore Zoe Hyatt, who had 12 digs and two aces. Miley Mullins was another key player, getting five kills, four digs, and two aces.
St. Albans' loss dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Nitro, the victory snapped their losing streak at five matches and leaves them with a 6-7 record.
St. Albans wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 defeat against Herbert Hoover on the 18th. As for Nitro, they have also already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Scott on the 25th.
