Football Preview: Mansfield Legacy Broncos vs. Lake Ridge Eagles
The Mansfield Legacy Broncos will head out on the road to square off against the Lake Ridge Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Mansfield Legacy will head into Friday's game ready to turn things around: they lost a close one when they played last Friday but unfortunately for them the defeat they were handed on Friday was a bit more commanding. They had to suffer through a 35-6 loss at the hands of Crowley. While losing is never fun, the Broncos can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 354th, while the Eagles are ranked 143rd).
Mansfield Legacy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jaden Manning, who rushed for 71 yards and a touchdown, and J-Uan Harrison Jr., who rushed for 64 yards. That's the most rushing yards Manning has posted since back in September of 2023.
Meanwhile, Lake Ridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They took a 34-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of Weatherford.
Despite their loss, Lake Ridge saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jaiden Cotton, who rushed for 55 yards and two touchdowns, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Tre Murphy, who gained 75 total yards and two touchdowns.
Even though they lost, Lake Ridge was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 215 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
This is the second loss in a row for Mansfield Legacy and nudges their season record down to 2-7. As for Lake Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.
